About the Event

TLC was hoping for a group Beach cleanup, but it's just not possible due to the continued COVID-19 restrictions, since outdoor gatherings are limited to groups of 5 people or less. BUT you can still do your part, and feel good about keeping our beach nice and clean.

Show your Beaches some TLC and help keep it clean through the "Spring Sweep the Beaches" - April 2021.

***PLEASE READ the entire text for details of the event and where to POST YOUR RESULTS***

How to Participate - UPDATED April 1st

COVID-19 bylaws restrict outdoor gatherings to 5 people.  Ongoing Public Health measures encourages you to exercise outdoors with only members of your household.

Organize on an individual basis or in a group of 5 or less. Come when you can, as many times as you can during the month of April.

Sweep the beach for litter, garbage, cigarette butts! Don’t forget Ashbridges Bay Park, Woodbine Beach, Kew-Balmy Beach and any other favourite shoreline spots. **Since Thursday April 22nd is Earth Day, this would be a great day to participate.

Record Results

Take some photos of your hard work! Post photos of you and the litter you collected, along with a brief description of what you collected and how much. (e.g. 3 bags, about 10lbs, mostly plastic).  Post to Instagram under the hashtag  #TLCSpringSweep.  Results will be published at the end of the month.

What to bring

NOTE: Please wear a mask and physically distance at all times while participating.  Bring your own litter picker, eco-friendly collection bags, wear gloves, masks and appropriate footwear. DO NOT pick up needles (call 311 or email a photo and location to 311@toronto.ca if you find hazardous waste). For large items (tires, drums, etc) place beside the city garbage bins and notify 311.
